CSA/BUYING
CLUB
After
many requests its finally here!!!! We listened to your comments and suggestions
and put them together in a format we think you are going to love!
We
couldn’t decide if we should call it a Buying Club or a CSA so we are calling
it both!!
Please read all the following information and if you have questions or
suggestions, please let us know!
What is a Buyer’s Club?
A buyers club is a group
of people that come together to participate in bulk purchasing to increase
their buying power. Instead of shopping individually, we combine our buying
power to get a better selection, lower prices and higher quality fresh
products. This saves time and money in many ways, making it affordable to
choose organic over pesticide and chemical-laden products. It also brings people
and communities together to network and share ideas, recipes and form
friendships.
What is a CSA?
CSA
stands for Community Supported Agriculture. In basic principle, it means the
community supports the farmer. For direct access to the farmer and direct
access to fresh local food, the community can sign up as members. Members
can buy a share of the farm and receive a share of the harvest each week. Much
like buying a share of stock, the community shares the risks with the farmer,
in addition to sharing the benefits of bountiful harvests. Each week members
receive what is available to harvest based on their share size.
Please
read everything carefully before you sign up to determine if this program is
right for you.
Members
are provided with a weekly bag of fresh vegetables based on the
availability of harvest and the season. We have many certified organic
farms around the country that we get produce from, but we make every effort to
use local farms and while some may not be certified organic, they use organic
growing practices because they care about their families’ health and the health
of the environment too. You can be certain we will never bring produce from a
farm we do not trust.
Varieties
are given based on what is available during that week, so will be
limited to seasonal growing. By joining, you are acknowledging and
accepting these terms. If this is not what you expect, then this may not be the
right membership for you. Additionally, we pick the items that go in the box. If you or other family members are "picky" this is not for you, respectively if you have allergy concerns this is also not a good club for you!
You have
the option to subscribe for, either a Full Share Weekly, Half Share Weekly, or
Full Share Bi-weekly. All shares are charged in advance for a 6-week
period and must be paid in full 1 week prior to the new 6 week start, for the share that you choose.
We understand you—the
consumer—are looking for ways to eat healthier and save money in these
uncertain economic times and this system of payment helps us keep costs down.
This makes healthy eating on a budget more convenient by delivering quality, fresh,
organic produce directly from local organic farmers to your neighborhood. This
means longer shelf life, less handling, no waiting in long lines and
below-market prices.
Come help us build a distribution network
of natural organic/locally grown foods that is good for our bodies and our
local economy. The success of the club depends largely on our ability to buy in
bulk. Please let other family members, church groups, co-workers, doctor's
offices, clubs, etc. that might be interested in our club know about us so that
they can reap the benefits too!
Get Started
Firstly, you need to decide what size share
is right for you. A half share is good for 1 person, or 2 if you don’t eat in
every night or a small family. The full share is a
great choice for families, vegetarians, juicers, or people that like to
entertain.
Cost
A once a year membership fee of $50 to get
started, this includes a reusable shopping bag that you will return each week
to reduce waste. Two bags, for those that go with the full share option. This
fee helps us pay for office expenses including workers, supplies, and misc.
costs, helping us keep your costs as low as possible. Membership fees occur
only once a year, you may suspend your share as often as needed during a 12
month period without paying the fee again, however shares must be paid in 6 week increments. If you need to suspend your share during a pre-paid month please
give us 1 weeks notice, if you cannot, please have a friend pick up or allow us
to donate it to a good cause.
